Grant Assistance
Mentorship is strongly encouraged for the New Investigator. The deadline for requesting mentorship is April 10, 2013. Consultations for project design, development, and general grant writing is available and provided by members of the IPC Review Committee. 2013 Funding Priorities
Preference will be given to proposals which address the following topics, incorporating PQMS principles, but others are welcome.
I. Hospital Acquired Conditions (HAC) at LPCH:
1. OB Adverse Events
2. Readmissions
3. Catheter line associated blood stream infections (CLABSI)
4. Catheter associated urinary tract infections (CAUTI)
5. Venous thrombosis embolism (VTE)
6. Adverse Drug Events
7. Surgical Site Infections
8. Pressure Ulcers
9. Serious Falls
10. Ventilator associated pneumonia (VAP)
II. Transition of care from pediatrics to adults.
III. Care of clinically complex patients in the community setting.

About IPC
Since 1997 the Innovations in Patient Care (IPC) Program has provided funding to encourage, develop, and support multidisciplinary health care providers and their creative ideas for improving patient care at LPCH. The IPC Committee welcomes the submission of ideas for improving patient care that represent departures from conventional thinking.
Mission
IPC is designed to solicit and fund original, well-developed, cutting-edge proposals which strive to:
- Improve the quality of patient care at LPCH through innovative interventions.
- Promote efficient/ appropriate use of resources and diagnostic/ therapeutic services at LPCH.
- Address issues of uncertainty or variations in patient care.
- Control and/or reduce the cost of patient care while maintaining or improving quality.
Eligibility
All LPCH employees and medical staff from all disciplines of patient care are invited to submit applications. New researchers are especially encouraged to apply. If you have previously submitted to Innovations in Patient Care, but did not receive an award, you are also invited to resubmit your proposal. Applications are not eligible if the project has received or will receive total or partial funding from another source.
